are you changing the architecture dramatically? I just checked out the master branch and the only thing I get inside the bin folder is cdist itself, no other executables... should I be using a different tag/branch? many thanks

Indeed, since cdist 2.0, quickstart has been removed, as the
syntax changed a lot.

There is a tutorial been written in replacement, though.

Meanwhile you can access help using ./bin/cdist -h.
