Discussed on matrix this morning: we have an obscure user group at $EVIL, some of us would like a 'proper' mailing list and pipeline to accept contributions from external people (= no gitlab account required).

CC @ander @sparrowhawk Useful resources: * https://www.freelists.org/lists.html (mentionned by @ander) * https://git-send-email.io/ * Sourcehut list's system has some kind of support for patches. * We happen to run a datacenter, hosting mailing lists should be doable :-)

Just because something is "ancient" that doesn't make it bad. Most of the mailing lists I've ever seen are run on Mailman2.

But the feature list of Sympa looks very nice, indeed.
RSS feed would be a big plus for me.

problems with mailing list:

  1. spam
  2. inconvenient and slower git flow

but I'm all in for diversity and the only reason I'm not using current mailing list is because of Google.
